Texas Roadhouse is not the place to go if you want a nice quiet dinner.
Texas Roadhouse is a Texas themed restaurant. It is a loud and rowdy place and is busy all the time. They do not take reservations but they have a waitlist and “Call Ahead Seating”. You can Call Ahead to shorten your wait. The restaurant will add your name to the waitlist. Simply check in at the host stand with your confirmation number and they will, insert you into the waitlist.
My husband was craving a steak for dinner last night. He invited me to meet him after work at Texas Roadhouse for a steak dinner and I eagerly accepted. Their steaks are almost always delicious, perfectly cooked, and perfectly seasoned.
He was thinking about the Early Dine Special. I love it that he has become so thrifty lately. He is not a cheap person. He is more aware of how he spends his hard earned money these days.
The restaurant has an Early Dine Special until 6 pm Monday through Thursday. There are eleven entrees available for $8.99 which includes two side dishes and their yummy home baked rolls and delicious honey cinnamon butter.
Even if you call ahead, you can still end up waiting anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes for your table. The bar is lovely and if you can find a seat, you can enjoy a drink before dinner and some free peanuts. (Caution: I found jalapeño peanuts at a Texas Roadhouse in Mesa, Arizona one time! They were very hot!) The bartenders are friendly and fun. The beer is ice cold and served in frosty mugs – tall and short. They have a variety of cocktails. The margaritas are supreme.
We checked in, found seats at the bar, and ordered tall, frosty beers. After a few sips, our pager went off and we were seated at a table. Getting seated was a bit of an obstacle course. Customers were wandering around waiting to be seated. Waiters were quickly delivering meals to tables. Tables were overflowing. It was crazy in there!
We ordered the special and received it within 15 minutes. Meanwhile, we were seated next to two families with bored, fussing, crying babies. The waitress and manager were very attentive. We wanted to have a nice conversation and were constantly interrupted by the babies, the waitress, the manager, and the birthday celebrations.
Texas Roadhouse has a crazy birthday celebration. The birthday girl/boy sits on a portable saddle. The staff will loudly to get the attention of everyone in the restaurant. Everyone then sings the Happy Birthday song. They also perform a line dance every hour.
Our steaks arrived perfectly cooked and we ordered another round of icy beer. It was a delicious meal but conversation was limited. We embraced the chaos and just enjoyed watching the other patrons and listening to the music. The meal was a bargain: two tall beers and two meals for than $40.
