Do you watch The Real Housewives of Orange County?
Shannon Beador is always yammering on about putting 9 lemons in a bowl for prosperity. What is the deal with that?
Apparently in Feng Shui, oranges and lemons represent prosperity due to their resemblance to the sun. You should place a bowl of 9 lemons or oranges on your kitchen table to summon positive, life-giving energy. and good health. The number nine is the highest number and expresses accomplishment and attainment. Nine is a fortunate number.
I don’t know about you but I could certainly use some good fortune. It’s worth a try. I’m putting 9 lemons on my shopping list. I could also use some help with my love life and finances.
Feng Shui is a Chinese system for positioning a building and objects in a way that is thought to agree with spiritual forces and to bring health and happiness. (Merriam Webster Dictionary). There is no scientific evidence to prove the credibility of feng shui but it is thought to be a pleasing and harmonious practice.
Carol Olmstead is a fung shui practitioner, speaker, and author. Her website: Feng Shui for Real Life is very interesting and informative. She explains the basic forces of feng shui and challenges readers to try small changes to attract wealth, harmony, and love into your life. A simple challenge is to try entering your front door everyday for seven days instead of using your garage door or back door to encourage new opportunities to flow into your life. Ms. Olmstead offers feng shui tips to rev your romance such as placing objects in pairs, adding red accessories to fire up your love life, and buy new luxurious bedding to freshen up a stale relationship. Attract wealth by cleaning your windows so you can see opportunities, replace dead plants to expand your wealth, and keep toilet lids down so you don’t flush away your wealth. Silly, but interesting and worthy of consideration.
I love the fung shui practices recommended for starting the new year with prosperity. It is all about bringing new energy into your home. It involves removing clutter and cleaning your space. Discard or give away things you do not need or want. Dust. Sweep the floor. Wash the windows. Cleaning and decluttering really does clear my thoughts and it relaxes me. I don’t like to do these things but I feel so much happier in a clean and uncluttered house.
I am willing to learn more about fung shui and experiment with it a little. I accept the 7 day front door challenge and I will try the nine pieces of fruit in a bowl. Cleaning and decluttering starts today!
