Just one week until we fly out of the cold, freezing Midwest to sunny Los Angeles for Christmas! At least, I am hoping for sunshine. According to my son, the weather in Los Angeles has been iffy. The wildfires there are very scary. He lives about 30 minutes from the location of the nearest fire. One night last week was particularly scary when winds were blowing 50 miles an hour at his home.
I am so excited. I can hardly wait to see them. I’m not too worried about the weather and the fires at this time but I’ll be watching the news.
But, I need to get all my Christmas chores done by Friday. Cards, shopping, decorating, and wrapping. I’m nearly finished. The, there is my long list of vacation preparations. Our second son will be arriving a day or two after Christmas to celebrate with us at our home.
The fun begins Saturday morning with a train trip to Chicago to see the Christmas sights. We will be enjoying a day filled with Christmas experiences and treats, an overnight at a downtown hotel, and a train trip back home. Sunday afternoon we will return on the train home and prepare for our flight to Las Vegas. We are staying in Vegas for two nights and will then rent a car and drive to our son’s home for a nice long visit.
I am already exhausted. I have been so excited that I have had trouble sleeping the last few nights and I am feeling a little sick. I would like to get most of my chores down today and tomorrowand then try to catch up on my rest. But, we have two Christmas parties later this week which will be late nights. It’s clearly a case of Christmas Overload.
Life seems to get more complicated as we get older.
Weekly Goal: Make it merry!
In other words, get up every morning with a smile on my face and make this day the best day ever!
The Christmas season is a joyful one. It is also extremely busy. I think the important thing is to safeguard my health. I am too irritable and anxious about preparing for the holiday and my vacation. I should take time to breathe, meditate, exercise, hydrate, eat healthy, and rest. So, I wiil make a list everyday, prioritize it, and be happy with what I accomplish.
