After all the weeks of planning and celebrating, Christmas Day has finally arrived. Hopefully, you are having a wonderful holiday, filled with love and happiness.
Christmas is a season of joy. It is a very simple concept. Theologically speaking, Christmas is about joyously celebrating the birth of Jesus – the son of God who was sent to save all of us from our sins. You may or may not believe in Jesus and God. Nevertheless, that is the true meaning of Christmas.
Be joyful! Be happy!
Joy is the feeling of great pleasure and happiness. Express this pleasure by giving your love and forgiveness to your family, friends, neighbors, and community. Give hugs, presents, food, and good deeds. Forgive grudges and insults. Love yourself. Forgive yourself. You are a good person and you are not perfect. You are just like everyone else in this world – very, very loveable in your own way. Express that love to other people. Be happy.
Blue Christmas. Some Christmases are very sad. It can’t be helped. Illness, death in the family, separation, anger, and loneliness happens. Remember, that sorrows pass and time heals most heartaches. Be kind to yourself. Reach out to your friends and families for comfort. Find a counselor if you need emotional help. Anger is a natural response to emotional pain but anger is self destructive and needs to be managed constructively.
“Peace on earth, good will towards men.” It is a bible verse. To me, it is a good saying to repeat when I am coping with the Christmas blues and problems. I think that relationships are the most important part of life. Being around other people is both joyful and distressing at times. We eat too much. We drink too much. We talk too much. It is just too much sometimes. “Peace on earth, good will towards men” reminds me to exercise tolerance and love towards those little annoyances of life.
Wishing you all a very merry Christmas!
