It is a bittersweet Monday morning for me. We are sitting here in the Las Vegas airport waiting to catch a flight home. We had a wonderful little vacation and we even have a little money leftover. It’s time to go home.
Although you cannot run away from your problems, the distraction of being in a different place helps. Today is the 7th anniversary of a terrible personal tragedy in our lives. It still hurts, as it should and will always for the rest of our lives. It is so ironic that it happened on Memorial Day weekend – a day designated to honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Although our daughter was not in the military, we honor her today and mourn our loss. Our sympathy goes out to all the parents who have lost a child. May your child’s soul Rest In Peace.
On a more positive note, Memorial Day traditionally kicks off the beginning of summer. There is so much to love about summer! Sunshine, the beach, the pool, barbecues, baseball games, lemonade, ice tea, tennis, bicycling, miniature golf, drive-in movies, family reunions, fairs, festivals, outdoor concerts, sitting on the back porch, summer vacation – so many things to look forward to. Long, long sunny days. It is so nice to sit outside. And best of all, Andy, my youngest son is getting married in less than a month!
Weekly goal: Relax.
It is going to be a short week but very busy one. I have several doctor and beauty appointments scheduled for this week. We are going out of town in the middle of the week for a baseball game and will be staying overnight. We are taking my in-laws to the game and they can be difficult sometimes. I need to finalize plans for the rehearsal dinner. I need to maintain my weight or even lose a few pounds so I can fit into my mother of the the groom dress. I want to look my best for this wedding. It could be a very stressful week, but we will hope for the best.

I will not worry about what I am not getting accomplished. I still have time.
I will try to maintain my regimen of diet, exercise, water consumption, and meditation to be healthy and fit. I will not beat myself up if I slip up a little.
I will find something to anticipate everyday that does not involve food.
I will relax.
1. I am so happy to be able to hug my husband whenever I need a hug, especially today.
2. I am so happy that my cleaning lady is coming this week. That means I will have one less thing to worry about.
3. I love how my cats cuddle up to me when I am lying on the floor for my daily meditation.
4. I am grateful that we are able to get away for small vacation trips throughout the year.
5. I am happy that I have in-laws that actually enjoy spending time with me.
