Halloween Hangover! Consuming too much candy last night. Hot dogs, pork and beans, and chips for supper. Beer and bar food all weekend while watching the World Series. Sugar, salt, and fat overload. My diet is not good! I feel terrible! I feel lazy and weak! I can’t get motivated to exercise. I am starting to panic.
Thanksgiving is just around the corner, soon to be followed by Christmas parties and celebrations. Then, there is New Year’s Eve and my birthday celebration. Valentine’s Day and Easter candy. There is going to be an excess of temptation in my future and I am already feeling guilty.
I need to detox today, except – there is another World Series game tonight! I’m not sure I can give up beer tonight! But, this surely indicates that I could find an excuse to eat and drink too much everyday.
It really makes me angry that I cannot eat whatever I want and have the slim figure I that I had forty years ago.
Sensibly speaking, moderation is the key. The secret to a fulfilling life is moderation. Ben Franklin said: “Moderation in all things – including moderation.” Ben Franklin was a genius! It simply means the secret to fulfillment lies in moderation of all things with a little excess here and there to spice up your life. It is all about pleasure and satisfaction. Treat yourself well by eating good healthy foods, drinking plenty of fresh, cool water, moving your body, and getting plenty of rest.
That makes me feel a little better. I have had my treats and now it is time for the tricks.
- Drink tons of water and decaffeinated beverages to rehydrate and flush out toxins.
- Eat a surplus of fruits and vegetables, a few grains, and some low-fat protein.
- Eat a little something every three to four hours to control hunger.
- Move and stretch the body.
- Rest and relax frequently.
- Cut back on sugar and salt.
- Cut back on unhealthy fats.
- Chew gum to ease sugar cravings.
No counting calories, just good healthy food choices – not sure about that beer tonight. The Cubs are in the World Series!!! This could be a very emotional night!
These tricks will work for now but it will be back to the Military Diet next week!
