I expected the Four Points by Sheraton Niagara Falls Fallsview to have a view of the actual waterfalls. It did not. Fallsview refers to the street address. I am sure that I saw a picture of the hotel with the falls in the background when I made the reservation but it must have been a photo shopped picture. However, you could take a walk for four to six blocks and get close enough to see them and feel the mist from the falling water. It was amazing.
This Sheraton is located in Ontario, Canada. It is an excellent location. The hotel is surrounded by shops, restaurants, and entertainment. We could easily and safely walk to everything including a direct view of Niagara Falls.
The Sheraton is a casual and cozy hotel with many corridors. It is clean and moderately priced. It has a gift shop, an arcade, restaurants, fitness center, indoor pool, and two hot tubs. Wifi was free. Although we were told that the wifi was “spotty”, we found it to be more than adequate. There is a Starbucks, IHOP, Ruth’s Chris, East Side Mario’s Pizza, and a CC Swirls. There are several kiosks for booking tours.
Parking is by valet for $25 a night. There is also public parking. The valet was very friendly and helpful and gave us top notch directions to the places we wanted to go. The check-in receptionist was very hospitable and gave us a $10 voucher for East Side Mario’s Pizza which we used that night.
We had a king room on the second floor. It was a large pie shaped room. Our windows looked out on the back of some buildings. There was a jacuzzi tub in the middle of the room between the bathroom and the bed area. We had a wardrobe, dresser, and desk set with cubbies for storing our clothes and stuff. There was an iron, an ironing board, and safe in the wardrobe. There was a great coffeemaker that brewed coffee from paper pods. No refrigerator or microwave. There were plenty of electric plug in receptacles.
The king bed was very comfortable and the pillows were adequate. We had an easy chair and footstool with an end table. There was an HDTV over the dresser. There were two windows with pull down room darkening shades. The air conditioning was very good and could be controlled by a wall thermostat.
The toilet and shower were enclosed in a separate little room. The sink was located outside between the jacuzzi tub and toilet/shower room. The room’s only mirror was located above the sink. The tub had a short wall to separate it from the bedroom area. There were shelves under the sink for storage . There was a nice hairdryer. There were dispensers for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower. There was plenty of hot water. We had an abundance of clean, fluffy towels and washcloths. I loved soaking in the jacuzzi tub – it felt so luxurious!!!
Our room was very clean and comfortable. We got one free bottle of water. I was very unhappy about the toilet paper and Kleenex situation. When we checked in, we had a very short roll of toilet paper and three Kleenexes in the box. I called the desk and they said they would send some up but we left for the night and it didn’t get delivered. I called again in the morning and they immediately sent up a fresh roll of toilet paper. The maid left an extra roll of toilet paper and extra coffee, cream, and sweetener after cleaning that day.
The hotel is connected to a casino by a walkway over the street. We visited the Fallsview Casino a few times. The casino complex has a 35 floor hotel, 18 restaurants, a nightclub, a shopping center with over 30 shops, and a theatre. The casino is located in the basement and is large and rambling and covers over 200,000 square feet. We were forever getting lost in there. It has over 3000 slot machines, 100 gaming tables, and numerous bars and restaurants. You must play with Canadian money which was tricky for us. The cashier will convert your money to Canadian dollars for gambling and your winnings to American dollars . My husband won a lot of money playing video poker. He was thrilled to get his first royal flush. We found another casino down the street named the Casino Niagara. It was smaller and had all the usual games.
We ate dinner at the buffet but unfortunately it was not very good. I do not recommend it.
The hotel is very “sensitive” about the tours. We asked for directions at the tour reservation desk for a tour we had previously reserved and Erica the clerk did not want to help us. She grudgingly gave us directions which were very hard to follow. My husband was furious and he never gets angry. We got lost. It’s best to ask the valet for directions.
I really had a difficult time planning this leg of our trip. I could not get a feel for Niagara Falls and could not find a good map. The reviews I read were very conflicting. There are two Niagara Falls cities/towns: Niagara Falls, New York and Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.
We chose to stay in Canada because it supposedly had better views of the falls and it did. Staying in Canada was problematic for us because we did not have phone service and gps. We also did not understand the money conversion and the value changed everyday. We had booked a tour of the falls on the New York side which turned out to be hard to find. It all worked out in the end and I am happy that we stayed in Canada because it was in a safe and clean area and we could easily walk to the falls and other attractions. I would stay at this hotel again as it is clean, comfortable and well located. It is also reasonably priced. We enjoyed our stay.
