The Casino Queen Hotel and Casino is located in East St. Louis. It is a large complex including hotel, casino, restaurants, bars, and an RV park. It is just across the river from downtown St. Louis. You can board the MetroLink in the parking lot, take a shuttle, or walk across the bridge to access downtown St. Louis.
This was our second visit to the Casino Queen Hotel although we have visited the casino many times. We booked a complimentary room. We did not spend a lot of time in the room as we went to Fairmount Park Race Track soon after check in followed by a long visit to the casino. We were charged and refunded a $100 security deposit.
The hotel is no frills kind of place to stay. It is plain, comfortable, and clean. It has a nice lobby area, conference room, indoor heated pool, and fitness center.
We were given a spacious room on the second floor with a view of the Mississippi River and the St. Louis skyline. The room was spotlessly clean although it was slightly worn. It was decorated with a beige wallpaper and carpet with tile in the bathroom. The room had pretty framed mirrors and prints on the wall.
The bathroom was large and roomy. There was a tub/shower combination with shower curtain and Acqua Blu soap, shampoo, cream rinse, shower gel, and lotion. Hot water was adequate. There were two each washcloths, hand towels, and bath towels. They were clean and fresh but thin. The toilet flushed very loudly. The sink was set in a long roomy countertop with a long, well lighted mirror above it. There was a soap dish which is very unusual but convenient. The bathroom had extra electric plugin receptacles. A single serve coffee maker with one coffee packet and condiments and hair dryer were set up next to each other on the counter. ( Odd and unsanitary place to locate a coffee maker!!!)
We had a huge, comfortable king size bed with soft, smooth linens and five plump pillows. The bed had a faux leather headboard and night stands with lamps on either side. There was a clock radio on one side and a phone on the other side.
Opposite the bed was a long dresser with many drawers for storage and a desk and office chair. A small HDTV hung above the dresser and was enclosed in a frame. There was a mini fridge and a really cute little rattan ice bucket and tray. The desk held a phone and a lamp.
We had floor length windows with a view of the river, the Arch, and the St Louis skyline framed with room darkening drapes. There was a very comfortable faux leather easy chair in the corner with a floor lamp.
There was a wall mounted air conditioner with a separate wall thermostat. It was very cool in the room. I could not adjust it to a comfortable temperature. I was either too cold or too hot all night.
Most of the electric plugins were in the bathroom. I could only find one plug for my phone. We had one electric plugin unit that did not work behind the easy chair. It was a shame we could not move the coffeemaker. There was free WIFI but we didn’t use it.
The casino is small but has plenty of slot machines and table games. There is a nice bar inside with video poker and a very expensive snack bar. It advertises itself as “the loosest slots”. I have been there many times and sometimes I win and sometimes I lose. The casino has two restaurants: The Market Buffet and the Prime Steakhouse and a snack bar. The food is very good at each place. There is also a Sevens Nightclub/Sports Bar which has entertainment, food, and drinks.
The Casino Queen also has an RV Park.
The Casino Queen has their own Rewards Club and card. The card can be used to earn free slot play, food credits, complimentary rooms, and other give always.
